The Orange Beach Police Department’s new shooting range is open to the public every other Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., weather permitting and except for holidays, and whether or not any scheduled police training is taking place. The department makes every effort to have the range available to the public. Anytime the range is open, a certified Range Safety Officer (RSO) and an Officer from the Orange Beach Police Department will be on duty.

Chief Range Safety Officers (CRSOs)

A Chief Range Safety Officer (Chief RSO) is the senior-level authority overseeing the entire range operation and team of RSOs at a shooting facility. In addition to possessing all the qualifications and responsibilities of a standard RSO, the Chief RSO coordinates scheduling, supervises subordinate officers, develops and implements range policies, handles administrative tasks like certifications and incident reporting, and makes final decisions on safety rulings or disputes.
